#10 - Go to a Concert

A (somewhat creepy) photo of Jessica and me waiting for the show to start
This week, I got to check off another one of my goals for 2013.

My sister Jessica bought two tickets to see her favorite band, NEEDTOBREATHE, in Birmingham. She generously invited me to go with her!

Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors played first, then NEEDTOBREATHE went on around 9:30. Although both bands have a very distinct Southern/country sound, there were enough rock 'n' roll elements mixed in to make me enjoy it (Sorry, I'm just not a fan of country music). All of the musicians were truly quite talented, and somehow, the simplicity of their music really amplified that.

Anyway, I'm glad my sister was nice to me and let me come along for this! Here's a couple of grainy concert pics to prove I was there:

I really love going to concerts, even if I'm not familiar with the bands playing and the songs they do. Watching and listening to talented people pouring themselves out through the honesty of their lyrics, the rawness of their instruments... I don't know if that makes sense, but it gets me excited about music again. It's that same fiery thrill I got as a thirteen-year-old watching Plus One live for the first time. It's like a spark. It makes me want to try harder as a musician. It makes me want to be back behind the mic.

I forgot how much I missed it.

Pretty soon, hopefully, I will have the confidence to try again.

How fun!! I love concerts, I haven't been to a ton of them but they are so fun. I don't think I've ever heard Needtobreathe!
